The Collected Library

Books, art, and collected pieces that make everyday moments more interesting.

A reading space doesn’t have to be quiet or minimal to feel inviting.

This library nook embraces color, pattern, and personality while maintaining a sense of balance. Built around a floor-to-ceiling olive bookcase, the room combines books, artwork, and collected objects to create a space that feels layered, lived-in, and welcoming.

The shelving serves as both storage and a design feature, providing room for books, ceramics, and decorative objects that add character without overwhelming the space. Its rich olive tone creates depth while offering a beautiful contrast to the lighter walls and furnishings.

At the center of the room, a textured artwork introduces soft pink, green, and neutral tones that are echoed throughout the space. Rather than acting as a standalone focal point, the artwork helps connect the room’s colors and materials, creating a sense of cohesion between the furniture, accessories, and architectural elements.

The fish-patterned rug brings a playful touch to the design and reinforces the room’s relaxed atmosphere. Paired with the olive shelving, it introduces an unexpected combination of color and pattern that feels both creative and collected.

A comfortable lounge chair and simple round coffee table provide a place to read, browse through books, or simply enjoy a slower moment during the day. Large windows allow natural light to move throughout the room, keeping the darker cabinetry feeling open and approachable.

The result is a library designed not only for reading, but for living- a space filled with books, artwork, and meaningful objects that reflect a personal sense of style.

The artwork featured in this space is one of my original mixed media works and is available as a fine art print.
